About Me

Hi! I’m Paul Maloney, a freelance WordPress Developer, Front-End developer, and Web Designer from Liverpool, UK.

About Me

I’m Paul Maloney, a freelance web designer and WordPress developer based in Liverpool, working with businesses across the UK.

I’ve been designing and building websites for over 20 years, working across front-end development, WordPress, branding and user interface design. I work directly with clients from start to finish, focusing on clarity, performance and long-term maintainability rather than quick fixes or unnecessary complexity.

I don’t use pre-made themes or generic solutions. Every project is built around the specific needs of the business, with decisions made based on experience, not trends.

How I Work

I work best with clients who value clear communication and honest advice. I’m direct by nature, which means I’ll say when something isn’t worth doing, adds unnecessary complexity or isn’t a good use of budget.

Freelancing suits the way I work. It allows me to stay hands-on, adapt quickly and focus properly on each project, rather than spreading attention too thin. Every site I build is expected to perform well, be easy to maintain and still make sense years down the line.

My Background

I started out in design before moving deeper into development, including years working in print. That background shapes how I approach web projects today balancing usability, accessibility and performance with clear, considered design.

The goal is always the same: build something that works properly and looks right doing it.

Why WordPress

WordPress gives me the flexibility to build exactly what a project needs. I develop custom themes and plugins where required, and combine that with front-end development to ensure clean, standards-compliant code with a strong focus on usability and accessibility.

I stay up to date with the platform and wider web standards, but I only adopt new approaches when they add real value. Clients don’t need the latest trend they need something reliable, secure and well thought through.

Outside of Work

When I’m not working on web projects, I’m a Judo coach. I tend to keep busy and enjoy learning new things, which carries through into my work. I’m at my best when I’m solving problems and working out practical solutions, whether that’s for a client project or something personal.
