craftAPI

The UK Beer Database & API That’s Simple, Fair, and Built for Breweries & Bars.

Client Overview

CraftAPI is a UK-focused beer database and API platform built to serve breweries, bars, developers and beer-centric applications with accurate, live beer and brewery data, all in a simple, transparent and fair-priced ecosystem. It empowers venues to manage beer lists, publish live digital menus, and embed structured beer data into websites and apps while providing analytics and SEO-optimised pages to grow audience reach.

Project Goal

CraftAPI needed a professional, developer-ready WordPress website that would:

  • Clearly communicate the value proposition of its beer database and API services
  • Support both technical users (developers) and commercial users (breweries & bars)
  • Present features such as API access, live menu integrations, analytics and SEO-friendly pages
  • Facilitate onboarding and sign-ups for free and paid plans
  • Provide an easy-to-manage backend for ongoing updates to features, pricing and product documentation

The aim was to deliver a credible digital presence that reflects CraftAPI’s mission to simplify beer data management and help UK craft beer businesses thrive online

Challenges

Before the build:

  • Diverse audience needs: The platform serves technical developers (interested in API documentation and integration) as well as business users (bars and breweries seeking live menu tools and analytics). The website needed to address both audiences seamlessly.
  • Complex technical offering: CraftAPI’s feature set, including APIs, widgets, automatic menu updates, analytics and SEO-optimised profiles, required clear communication and visual explanation to reduce friction for new users.
  • Competitive landscape: Other APIs exist (e.g., open brewery datasets) but often lack the UK focus or beer-centric tools that CraftAPI provides. The site had to differentiate CraftAPI’s practical, UK-leaning product clearly.
My Solution
Clear Product Messaging & Architecture
  • I organised the site into intuitive sections that clearly articulate CraftAPI’s offerings:
  • Features: Explaining how live menus, analytics, SEO-rich pages and API access help breweries and bars manage online content and grow visibility.
  • Pricing: Transparent pricing plans (including free brewery plans and affordable bar plans) clearly contrasted so users understand what they’re getting.
  • How To & Explore: Guides and examples to help developers and venues understand integration paths and use cases.
Professional Visual Identity & Design
  • A contemporary, beer-friendly design that balances technical clarity with approachable aesthetics, appealing both to developers and business owners.
  • Strategic calls-to-action like “Sign Up” and “Explore Features” placed throughout the site to encourage onboarding.
  • Clean typography and layouts that help explain CraftAPI’s technical benefits in a digestible way.
Feature-Rich Frontend Experience
  • Highlighted features such as UK beer database coverage, API endpoints, live updates for menus, analytics dashboards and SEO-optimised venue pages, all presented with visuals and concise language.

  • Developer-friendly sections that encourage deeper exploration of API capabilities while offering straightforward onboarding for non-technical users.
  • Responsive layouts ensuring seamless browsing across desktop, tablet and mobile.
Backend CMS Enhancements
  • Structured templates for product pages, documentation links, pricing tiers and marketing copy.
  • An admin interface that allows the CraftAPI team to update feature information, pricing or guides without developer assistance.
Performance & SEO Foundations
  • Built with fast loading templates and semantic HTML to support visibility for search terms like “UK beer database”, “beer API for bars” and related queries.
  • Dedicated SEO components for key pages to help attract breweries, bars and developers through search traffic.
Results

The new WordPress site delivered:

  • Clear value communication: Users now easily understand CraftAPI’s feature set, benefits and plans.
  • Improved onboarding experience: Strategic layouts and calls-to-action help drive sign-ups for both free and paid tiers.
  • Audience-balanced content: Technical and commercial audiences can quickly find what they need, whether it’s API docs or business features.
  • Editorial autonomy: The CraftAPI team can update content independently, keeping guides, pricing and product pages fresh and accurate.
Conclusion

By combining purposeful information architecture, compelling design and a flexible WordPress implementation, I delivered a website that elevates CraftAPI’s brand and product offering. The result is a feature-rich, easy-to-manage platform that serves both developers and beer business owners, enhances discovery of CraftAPI’s beer data tools, and supports continued growth in the UK craft beer ecosystem.
